Rome [ENA] A Concert, a tribute to Maestro Roberto De Simone, will be performed in the Pauline Chapel in the the sprawling 16th-century palace of the President of the Italian Republic , conceived and created in collaboration with Radio3. This event, part of the concerts at the Quirinale, an Italian Radio3 production in partnership with Rai-Quirinale and the Presidency of the Republic, is the new

prestigious production of the Napoli Teatro Festival Italia directed by Ruggero Cappuccio and financed by the Campania Region. A sign of respect and admiration for Maestro Roberto De Simone, musician, musicologist and director, born in Naples on 25 August 1933. As well as composing, De Simone published the results of some of his philological studies on the rhythmic cadences and patterns of the oral ritual of popular festivals and on little-known itineraries of erudite music from Campania of the eighteenth century. Later he would have reproposed them to listening and studying with productions awarded by unanimous approval. De Simone has been artistic director of the S. Carlo Theater in Naples from 1983 to 1987.

Next Sunday event, which will take place behind closed doors in the suggestive Pauline Chapel, but which the public can follow through the live broadcast on Rai Radio3 and in video on the RaiPlay streaming portal and through Euroradio connections in many European Countries is not to be missed. These classical concerts are definitely a must for music-lovers. The program includes three pieces, two by De Simone for guitar and string quartet, interspersed with a composition for solo guitar by Edoardo Catemario on themes by Gesualdo da Venosa. The concert will be opened by De Simone's "Tales of Mamma Orca", a work from 1996 that combines the erudite and popular traditions (Toccata, Gesualda, Senza Nome, Pergolese, Follia di Spagna)

in five movements, and will conclude with the premiere of “Ma fin est mon commencement”, the Maestro's most recent creation, dedicated by the author to the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella. It is a piece that draws inspiration from the homonymous canon of the fourteenth century composed by Guillaume de Machaut, a musician and poet who lived in Naples during the Angevin era (1282-1442), who was able to contribute significantly to the flourishing of a school that became a reference point for Italian and European musical culture.
